Growing Your Own Organic
Vegetables
The amount of food that can be produced in a few square meters of your back garden is nothing short of
breathtaking! From Potatoes in the ground to runner beans growing up poles before you know it you will have more
fresh veg than you ever thought possible.
The benefits that come from growing organic vegetables to you and your
family are countless, we all know that vegetables are good for us, organic vegetables are even better and so
not only are they organic but they will be as fresh as they possibly can be!
The fresher the vegetable the greater the nutrients and therefore the better they are for you. You do not need
to have acres of space to grow your own vegetables, a surprising amount can be grown in a small veg patchor
directly out of a grow bag.
If you live in a block of flats you can grow herbs and vegetables such as tomatoes and chillies in a window
box.
There are also environmental reasons for growing your own veg. Just think of what is involved in getting your
potatoes to your house, firstly they are produced on a farm then transported to a supermarket which you have to get
to to purchase them, all of these processes can be cut out by growing you own then all you have to do is get them
from the garden to the kitchen.
Growing your own organic vegetables and working on the land is a great way to stay health and active, it can be
hard work at times and provides some of the essential exercise we need to stay fit and healthy; it is also a very
satisfying and rewarding pastime that is great for the mind and soul.
Don't forget that once you start growing your own vegetables
you can stop buying them from a shop and save money, maybe you could buy a new spade
tomorrow?
